A Q&A on “The Narrowing of Broad Beach.” Coastal Change and Public Beaches in Malibu, California  ,” Pacific Historical Review , vol. 92, no. 2, 2023, which considers how coastal erosion altered the parameters of public access on Malibu’s Broad Beach. At the turn of the 21st century  , the long-standing challenge of public access to this exclusive Malibu enclave collides with the ongoing climate crisis, highlighting the intertwining of environmental risk and coastal urban development.
